2024 Australian Urban Design Awards: Commendation in Built Projects – Local and Neighbourhood Scale

Lilydale and Mooroolbark Stations by BKK Architects, Kyriacou Architects, Jacobs and Aspect Studios

Jury comment

Lilydale and Mooroolbark Stations continue the critically important work of the Victorian Government’s Level Crossing Removal Project. The strategic relocation of Lilydale Station reinvigorates the Lilydale Major Activity Centre by framing better connections to retail and commercial areas. Mooroolbark Station reunites and enhances an existing urban setting. With the support of multiple agencies and the local community, the team has created joyful tower signifiers and station environs that celebrate the stories, culture, and materials of the Yarra Valley Region.

Lilydale and Mooroolbark Stations are located in Lilydale and Mooroolbark on the land of the Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung of the Kulin Nation.
