Overgrown: Practices Between Landscape Architecture and Gardening is a thoughtful and evocative volume of research that delves into a topic long overdue for discussion and debate within the profession. It provides an excellent bridge between the theory, design and maintenance of landscapes, and it clearly unpacks and discusses the concept of time – and of landscape management as an essential element of design. Indeed, as landscape architects, we cannot afford to forget this element or leave it to the end of the design process; we must understand it, own it and leverage it. The book’s writing and tone are engaging and thought-provoking, and the author should be congratulated for bringing this topic to the fore.
