2018 National Landscape Architecture Awards: Landscape Architecture Award for Research, Policy and Communications

Greener Places by Government Architect NSW

Jury citation:

Greener Places supports the development of a connected network of new green places across the metropolitan region of Sydney. It is a landscape-led initiative and the first urban green infrastructure policy for New South Wales. Rather than present new research on the definition of green infrastructure, it evaluates how existing knowledge needs to be integrated into current policy and legislative frameworks. It will support possible funding mechanisms and the development of a statewide GIS database of existing green open space in New South Wales. As a government policy, Greener Places is likely to influence state governments across Australia.
