AILA announces 2022 Festival of Landscape Architecture theme

The Australian Institute of Landscape Architects has announced Blaklash Creative, LatStudios and Claudia Taborda as the creative directors of the 2022 Festival of Landscape Architecture. The program, which will take place from 13 to 16 October in Brisbane and online, is themed “Country.”

“It is critical for all involved in shaping urban environments to join with First Nations people to gain a deeper understanding of Country as we prepare our cities for the complex challenges of climate change,” said the festival directors.

The 2021 edition of the event was directed by the Perth-based team of Maria Ignatieva, Christina Nicholson, Damien Pericles, Hans Oerlemans and Kat Stewart and was titled “Spectacle and Collapse: Changing landscapes.”

The inaugural AILA Festival of Landscape Architecture was held in 2014 to the theme “Forecast” and was directed by Sharon Mackay and Di Snape, with Catherin Bull as adviser.
