2023 National Landscape Architecture Awards: Landscape Architecture Award for Play Spaces

Hinterland Adventure Playground by Urbis

Jury comment

The Cooroy Hinterland Adventure Playground is an all-abilities playground that is thoughtfully integrated into its surroundings. This landscape provides play amenity that responds to site and existing community assets, connecting to the local library and cultural precincts. The project demonstrates innovative thinking, with a commitment to canopy provision and a clear design approach led by a philosophy that “everything must be playable.” This approach has ensured that fun is embedded into the space, encouraging young site users to explore.
