2020 National Landscape Architecture Awards: Award of Excellence for Small Projects

Mahon Pool Amenities and Maroubra Seals Swimming Clubhouse by Sue Barnsley Design

Jury citation:

Mahon Pool Amenities is a simple yet memorable and poetic project that speaks of profound respect for its sublime coastal surrounds. A seamless physical and visual connection is inserted, joining the clubhouse with the Maroubra rockpool beyond. The forms are skilfully considered and precisely executed, mirroring and blending with the ground below and clifftop forms beyond. Disciplined and confident, the outcome appears almost effortless, giving the insertion permission to be part of something bigger and making this project incredibly special.

Location: Maroubra (NSW)

Aboriginal Nation: Eora
