Chang Huai-yan (Singapore)

Keynote speaker – Landscape Australia Conference 2018

Chang Huai-yan founded the landscape design firm Salad Dressing in 2002. The company consists of landscape designers, gardeners and architects who challenge boundaries in the design of domesticated landscapes based on the rainforest, biodiversity, the immateriality of nature and its timeless relationship with humans.

The company develops a portfolio consisting of a wide array of residential developments, gardens, resorts and commercial projects throughout Asia. They also create artworks, installations and interior design based on the charm of the land – natural and cultural. Unique concepts focusing on both the company’s design beliefs and natural site conditions are created for each project, exploring ways for nature and humans to coexist, and ultimately to allow people to develop a feeling for the land. They see their role as negotiators between nature and humans, operating to express, above all, the beauty of the land.
