Andrew Toland is a lecturer in landscape architecture at UTS. He was previously an assistant professor in landscape architecture at the University of Hong Kong. He holds degrees in architecture, law and economics. His current research explores “realism” discourses in recent urbanism and design culture; representations of Asian cities and landscapes within contemporary design theory and practice; and the cultural and geopolitical effects of large-scale infrastructure projects, both current and historical, on the understanding and organization of territories and topographies, particularly in East Asia.
