2021 National Landscape Architecture Awards: President’s Award

Pamela Conrad (CMG Landscape Architecture, USA) for Pathfinder

Jury comment

Generally awarded to a member of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, at the discretion of the board the President’s Award may be given to a non-member who has shown commitment and support for landscape architecture in Australia. This contribution may be in the form of financial, organizational, political and/or media support that increases the profile and capability of landscape architecture.

Pamela Conrad is the recipient of the 2021 AILA President’s Award in recognition of her global leadership in the development of the Pathfinder landscape carbon calculator app. The app helps landscape architects, including those in Australia, understand how to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions embodied within or produced by projects, and how to increase their sequestration capacity. It will be an invaluable tool in the implementation of AILA’s Climate Positive Design Member Action Plan.

Based in the United States, Pamela is a passionate landscape architect, advocate and communicator who has collaborated with AILA on the refinement of Pathfinder through the International Federation of Landscape Architects’ (IFLA) Climate Change Working Group, and on the development of IFLA’s Commitment to Climate Action statement. We thank and commend Pamela for her leadership.
