2020 National Landscape Architecture Awards: Landscape Architecture Award for Infrastructure

Aerodrome Road Intersection by Hassell

Jury citation:

The Aerodrome Road Intersection advocates for people-oriented design in transport projects, embodying an interesting combination of both civic and infrastructural qualities. The value
of landscape architects is exemplified with an outcome that supports wayfinding for pedestrians, extends Maroochydore’s green network and celebrates the experience of walking with a
generous and rhythmic planting strategy. The jury commends the initiative taken by the team in its close collaborative approach with the engineers, local council and community stakeholders to provide a holistic outcome and activated city hub while also meeting its traffic objectives.
